Chapter 58 Finding New Teammates
Chapter 58 Finding New Teammates
After seeing Gareth off, Lin Er returned to the dining table to eat. Once he was full, he got up and went to Flora's house to knock on the door.
Flora looked around to make sure Gareth wasn't there, then welcomed him in and closed the door.
"Is it really necessary to be so secretive?"
"It's necessary. That playboy is too annoying. I don't want to see him again."
"All right."
Lin Er expressed his understanding and then told her everything about the guild's plan to besiege the Misty Forest and the minimum requirements for forming a team with adventurers.
Are you interested?
He will definitely participate in this encirclement and suppression operation, but he is unsure whether Flora is interested, since she has been enjoying her cultivation these past few days.
Flora replied, "I'm going. I don't have much money left, and I'm planning to earn some more."
Lin Er was startled upon hearing this and quickly replied, "If you need money, I have some here."
Flora shook her head and continued, "I have enough money for food, clothing, and other necessities. My main concern is buying some magical items for self-defense, which will cost a lot of money."
Upon hearing this, Lin Er said, "I have now signed a hundred-year contract with the guild, which gives me priority in purchasing two magical items. If you want to buy them, I can help you reserve them."
"Won't this take up your spot?"
"It's alright, I don't have much money right now. I can probably only afford one item at most. I might as well use the last spot."
"Thank you very much."
"No need to thank me, we're companions after all."
Lin Er smiled slightly. This was just a small favor for him. He was very happy to be able to help Flora, since she had helped him a lot before.
He then asked Flora, "I don't know many people in Blackrock City, and we're currently short two members for our team. Do you have any candidates?"
Flora shook her head again, sighed, and said:
"I don't know many people either, just like you. I initially thought Luna was alright, but..."
She shut her mouth again, feeling extremely frustrated, and muttered to herself:
"Every time I tried to find a few suitable teammates, the people I met all had other ideas and weren't there to cooperate and go on an adventure."
After being bothered by Gareth last time, I now only feel extremely annoyed, so I've developed a bit of a dislike for meeting strangers.
Flora sighed repeatedly, her beautiful face now filled with sorrow.
To be honest, Flora was indeed beautiful, and being an elf, she was one of the only two elves he had ever seen in Blackrock City: Flora and the butler Roslin.
However, Roslinn has little elven blood; she looks more like a human, very capable, and quite beautiful.
However, compared to Flora, Roslin paled in comparison, which explains Flora's distress.
"You really do look like an angel, and even I sometimes can't help but take a second look."
Lin Er sighed.
Flora tilted her head and blurted out:
"Thank you for your praise, but I am an elf, not an angel."
Lin Er withdrew his gaze and steered the conversation back to finding teammates. He pondered for a moment and said, "Since you don't have anyone here either, I'll have to ask Ellie."
Ellie is a member of the guild after all, and with her help, they should be able to find some good teammates.
"Ellie, she does know a lot of people."
Flora responded, tilted her head, and slowly looked at Lin Er.
"Your relationship seems to be progressing very well lately."
"That's natural. It's common sense to maintain good relationships with people in the guild, right?"
Flora paused slightly, then her attitude softened considerably.
"So that's what you were after. How opportunistic."
Despite saying that, she felt a little secretly pleased for some reason.
"Actually, Ellie is a very nice person, and I'm not entirely motivated by self-interest."
"You don't need to explain, I can tell you're not interested in women."
Lin Er was speechless. Flora was right. His main focus was on cultivation, and he couldn't find a reason to refute her.
Seeing his appearance, Flora said, "It's very late now, and the guild is about to close. You should go and ask around."
"OK."
Lin Er agreed, bid farewell to Flora, and hurried toward the guild.
It was nearing evening, the sun was hanging on the horizon, and the sky was filled with beautiful sunset colors.
The main road leading to the guild is more than ten meters wide, and the ground is paved with bluestone. On both sides of the street, houses and shops are packed together.
This is one of the busiest streets in Blackrock City, and even now, in the evening, there is still a constant stream of pedestrians.
Lin Er noticed that some people in gray uniforms were moving cages containing colorful, soft, and adorable jelly-like things.
He usually focuses on his cultivation and rarely goes out shopping. This is the first time he has seen such a thing. It seems to be alive, slowly wriggling in the cage.
Lin Er was immediately intrigued and couldn't resist walking over.
"Hello, excuse me, what is this?"
A man turned around at the sound. He was a little impatient at first, but when he saw the silver badge hanging on Lin Er's chest, he became respectful.
"Adventurer, this is a slime."
It was a slime, no wonder it didn't look threatening.
"What are you doing carrying around slime?"
"This is used for cleaning. We usually release it before dawn. The streets are so clean now, all thanks to it."
Lin Er suddenly realized that he never went out at night, so he had never seen it before.
"May I take a look at it?"
"Of course, please take a look."
The man stepped aside, and Lin Er followed to get a closer look.
[Slime Spirits: Monsters that arise in swamps and caves. They lack intelligence, can devour filth, and are mostly harmless; ordinary people can handle them.]
Lin Er felt relieved after seeing the notification.
This slime is really a useful monster. I never thought people in this world would use it for cleaning. No wonder the streets of Blackrock City are so clean.
Lin Er snapped out of his daze, said goodbye to the man, and hurriedly headed towards the guild after being delayed for so long.
He hurried to the guild hall, but it was already closed, and even the guards stationed at the entrance had gone off duty and left.
Just as he was annoyed that he had been a little distracted, he heard a familiar voice.
"Lord Lin'er, is there anything I can help you with?"
Lin Er turned his head and saw Ellie standing not far away, holding documents in her hands and looking at him with a puzzled expression.
He quickly went over to her: "Ellie, I need to talk to you."
Lin Er then told Ellie about his desire to find teammates to team up with.
Ellie replied slowly, "Luna has already found a team today, so you don't need to wait for her anymore."
Lin Er wasn't too disappointed about it; he had only mentioned it because Gareth had told him that Luna might come.
"Do you have any suitable candidates? If possible, it would be best to find me two female adventurers, or those with partners. We don't need to be too demanding in terms of strength, as long as they have good character."
"I understand. I happen to have a suitable candidate here. You can come to the guild tomorrow."
