Bloody Romance: I, the big troublemaker, Zhong Yuemin!

Chapter 336 SVD Sniper Rifle!

Chapter 336 SVD Sniper Rifle!

"What the hell!"

Zhang Haiyang, chewing on beef jerky, cursed:

"Vietnamese people, how far do you think we'll go in this war against the Vietnamese? Their stronghold, Hanoi, is only a few hundred kilometers from here. I think we should march all the way to Hanoi, take over their stronghold, and plant the red flag on the government building. That would be the most satisfying thing ever! They're not even the third strongest military power in the world, let alone us!"

Zhong Yuemin smiled as he looked at Zhang Haiyang's indignant expression.

"Haiyang, you came from the military region's staff headquarters, but this behavior reminds me of our younger days in Beijing, when we were rebellious and only cared about getting our hands dirty in fights. That won't do. Look at the last two days, we've captured three high grounds, and the elite detachment has lost more than half its men. Our small team has also lost about ten."

The number of participants in the western theater was relatively small; the casualties on the eastern front in Guangxi were probably much higher.

I reckon this counterattack won't last too long. Its main purpose is to teach these Vietnamese monkeys a lesson, to show them that just because they've "won" against France and the US, and have Russian support, they can do whatever they want. Monkeys are monkeys; no matter how much they jump around, it's useless.

"That's pretty boring!"

Zhang Haiyang pursed his lips.

“Take it easy, I don’t want any more casualties,” Zhong Yuemin said.

"Haiyang, Ningwei, Mantun, none of you are married yet, so you better live well, get married, have children, and carry on the family line."

"Yuemin, the way you're talking makes it sound like you're married," Zhang Haiyang said.

“Speaking of this, Zhou Xiaobai in the capital must know that you went to the battlefield. If something happens to you, Xiaobai is the most beautiful girl in our college. So many people have their eyes on her. If you just give her away, you’ll be at a huge loss.”

"Get lost, you're cursing me to die!"

"No way!"

Zhang Haiyang laughed, "You're like a turtle, you could live for a thousand years, just giving you a heads-up!"

As they were chatting idly, gunshots suddenly rang out outside. The men quickly scrambled to their feet, as if by reflex, and went to the observation slit. One of the team members said:

"Battalion commander, the enemy is sneaking up from below."

Zhong Yuemin quickly made arrangements.

"Mantun, Ningwei, Haiyang, each of you go to a cover and fight alongside the third platoon. Go now."

The group quickly left the bunker and dispersed outside. Zhong Yuemin crouched low and crept along the trench to a concealed position at the front. He took a sniper rifle from his shoulder; it was a Russian-made SVD sniper rifle that he had previously captured from Vietnam. This SVD was no ordinary rifle; it used a 7.62mm caliber, had a maximum effective range of 800 meters, and was equipped with a PSO-1 optical sight, making it extremely accurate. According to him, during the counterattack, the SVD sniper rifles used by Vietnam had caused considerable trouble for our troops, resulting in significant casualties.

He set up his sniper rifle, his body blending into the night, raindrops falling on the dark muzzle.

Next second,

"boom!"

A muffled thud, not loud, was drowned out by the sound of rain. Several hundred meters below, an enemy soldier collapsed, limp and lifeless.

"Bang, bang, bang..."

Enemy soldiers kept falling, some without even knowing where the bullets came from, dying inexplicably. The enemy's first counterattack on the nameless hill was repelled amidst the fear and terror of the Vietnamese, suffering twenty or thirty casualties. Our side suffered no casualties, and even used bullets sparingly.

The Vietnamese were naturally not going to give up so easily. These three high ground areas had been meticulously constructed before the battle, with bunkers and fortifications every few steps, and trenches and ditches laid out like a spider web. The entire mountain was equivalent to a giant fortress, equipped with heavy firepower, and indestructible. They had put in so much effort and boasted that they could hold out for three months. Who knew that all three high grounds would be taken down in just two nights? How could they be willing to accept this?
