Chapter 191 Getting Worse
Chapter 191 Getting Worse
Shen Yan sighed softly, and the doubts in her heart gradually dissipated.
She understood that what she needed to do was to look at this engagement more rationally, not only considering herself, but also taking into account her family's expectations and social pressure.
They were immersed in the beauty of the embroidered handkerchief together, and every stitch and thread seemed to tell a story.
Time quickly came to June.
The weather became unusually warm, and everyone took off their thick clothes and put on light clothes.
The clothes Shen Yan wore were very simple because she had been busy setting up her stall recently and had no time to make clothes.
But as the stall lasted longer and longer, its reputation grew, and she became very busy.
Recently, many people came here to eat snail noodles. Everyone came at a very similar time, and Shen Yan closed the stall early, so he couldn't say how tired he was.
Although the business of the stall is getting better and better, Shen Yan feels a little tired. She is busy from early morning to late evening every day, and she often feels that there is not enough time. Although she has long been accustomed to physical fatigue, the joy and satisfaction in her heart make her persevere.
That day, the sun was setting, the evening breeze brought a hint of coolness, and the streets gradually became quiet. Shen Yan sorted out the utensils on the stall, and couldn't help but sigh at the passing of time. She never thought that she would feel so satisfied and happy because of this simple but fulfilling job.
Suddenly, a familiar voice broke her contemplation, "Miss Yan, today's snail noodles are really delicious!"
Shen Yan looked up and saw that it was Uncle Wang, an old customer who often visited her stall. She smiled and said to him, "Uncle Wang, you are here. Thank you for your continued support."
Uncle Wang nodded with a smile, "My children love your snail noodles the most. Every time they eat it, they say it's the best."
Shen Yan felt warm in her heart. These small compliments and support made her feel that all her hard work was worth it. She couldn't help but think of the several anonymous complimenting notes she had received recently. Each of them was a thank you and praise from a stranger, which gave her a sense of silent motivation.
"Uncle Wang, you are too polite." Shen Yan said with a smile, "This is all as it should be. Your child is also a little fellow who knows how to appreciate delicious food."
Uncle Wang laughed out loud, looking at the young girl in front of him, his respect and love for her increased. He knew that behind this small stall was a hardworking and kind young woman who not only made every bowl of snail noodles with her heart, but also won the love and respect of many people with her sincerity.
"Miss Yan, you've worked hard." Uncle Wang said gently, "Take good care of yourself and don't get too tired."
"Yes." Shen Yan answered cheerfully while packing her things.
Today, after making the last bowl of snail noodles, Shen Yan packed up and prepared to go home early.
But at this moment someone ran over, "Miss Shen, I heard that the snail noodles you make are very delicious, bring me a bowl quickly, I finally see you today."
Shen Yan shook her head helplessly: "The rice noodles prepared today have been sold out, please come earlier tomorrow."
It makes people feel a little sad: "I have run for the third time today, and I couldn't catch up with you before. Today I finally caught up with you and you were still there, but I couldn't eat snail noodles, alas."
Seeing the man's dejected look, Shen Yan said, "I have some soup here. I'll give you a bowl. You can go buy some rice noodles somewhere else and cook them. How about that?"
After hearing this, the man's eyes lit up and he handed his kettle to Shen Yan.
Shen Yan filled a big bowl of snail noodles for him and added a few snacks. They were both very happy.
The man took the bowl full of snail noodles and looked at Shen Yan with gratitude, his eyes flashing with joy and emotion.
"Miss Shen, you are so kind!" he said excitedly, "I will go buy some rice noodles right now and make sure to cook them well and enjoy them."
Shen Yan smiled and nodded, watching his back as he walked away, her heart was filled with an inexplicable joy and satisfaction. This small help not only brought warmth and satisfaction to others, but also made her feel her own value and meaning of existence.
The lights on the stalls gradually dimmed, and the streets gradually became quiet. Shen Yan continued to tidy up the stall, thinking back to the past few days. She had grown from an inconspicuous small vendor to a snail noodle chef praised by everyone in the town. She was very pleased with her efforts and achievements along the way.
Suddenly, a warm hand patted her shoulder. She looked up and saw that it was Shopkeeper Li who often came to help.
"Miss Yan, are you sold out today?" asked Shopkeeper Li with a smile.
Shen Yan nodded, "Yes, business is pretty good today."
Shopkeeper Li smiled and said, "You are such a kind-hearted person. When you see that guest, you always win people's hearts."
Shen Yan shook her head modestly, "This is what I should do. Everyone comes here to eat the food I cook, and I hope they will be satisfied."
"Miss Yan, you are such a kind person." Shopkeeper Li looked at her with eyes full of appreciation and admiration. "Come on, I'll help you move your things, and we'll go home."
Guifang's mother-in-law was watching this scene not far away, and she was so angry that her teeth were itching.
She didn't expect Shen Yan's business to be so good now. She asked her daughter-in-law to learn from her and now she also sells snail noodles, but her business is not as good as Shen Yan's.
When it first opened, business was good, but now snacks are given away for free and no one comes to eat noodles anymore.
Guifang looked at the broth cooking in the pot with a worried look on her face. She felt a chill and looked up, only to meet the other person's vicious gaze.
Her mother-in-law scolded her angrily: "What are you still standing here for? There are no customers, why don't you go out and attract customers? I have been learning from Shen Yan for two months, but the things you make are getting worse and worse!"
Guifang's arm was pinched by her mother-in-law, which caused a sharp pain. Suddenly a guest came at this moment, and Guifang was finally freed.
"Sir, what would you like to eat?"
The customer who came was the one who had just ordered soup stock from Shen Yan's stall. He came to her house because he couldn't buy rice noodles.
"I want some rice noodles."
"Then you've come to the right place. My shop sells snail rice noodle, and our rice noodle is quite famous. It's delicious and not expensive. It's more affordable than the one across the street."
The old woman talked for a long time without noticing that the man's face was getting worse and worse.
Guifang was a person who could read people's faces. She quickly pulled her mother-in-law away and asked again, "Sir, what do you want?"
"I want rice noodles, cooked with water."
Upon hearing this, the old woman's face changed: "Even if you cook it with water, the price is the same. I can't give you a discount."
The man nodded but said nothing.
The old woman gave her daughter-in-law a look. Guifang didn't dare to say a word, but just kept her head down and worked alone.
Soon, the rice noodles were cooked, and Guifang handed them over politely: "The plain rice noodles are tasteless, too. How about I give you another bowl of soup?"
