Chapter 4193 Observer's Perspective
Chapter 4193 Observer's Perspective
Chapter 4193 Observer's Perspective
"Let's vote. Those who are inclined to clear the Earth Angel level first, please raise your hands."
After Angell finished speaking, he looked at everyone.
Looking around, no one raised their hand except for Angell.
"??!"
"Mr. Angell, why did you raise your hand?" Gray Porcelain looked at Angell with some surprise. Wasn't Angell the one who just said that the threshold for angels on earth was too difficult to define?
Everyone was persuaded by Angell and lowered their hands, but Angell himself still had his hands raised?
Seeing the doubt in everyone's eyes, Angel said in a serious tone, "I was the first to say that I preferred to go to the angels on earth, so I must stick to it."
“After all, I must stay true to myself and refuse to be alienated…” Angel blinked: “To be a pure person.”
"Otherwise, when we go to the Earth Angels level later, I'll be defined as not pure, which would be so embarrassing."
Angell's nonsense silenced everyone.
Maggie, in particular, rolled her eyes at Angel.
Angel didn't seem to mind, and said with a smile, "Since no one is exchanging tickets, I'll conclude here."
"Three, two, one..."
"Alright, since no one except 'pure' me seems to prefer conquering the angels on the ground first, let's put this level on hold for now and discuss it later."
After Angell finished speaking, he lowered his raised hand.
His raising his hand was partly playful, as the atmosphere was somewhat somber due to the "Pure Realm" interview requirement; however, his explanations weren't entirely nonsensical.
Since they all agree that the "purity" required by the Wonderland level is not an abstract concept, but a quantifiable standard.
Perhaps it really is about being faithful to one thing from beginning to end?
So he raised his hand.
Anyway, he asked "whether you are inclined to conquer the Earth Angel level first", rather than "whether you decide to conquer the Earth Angel level next".
The definition can be either definite or alternative, offering a great deal of flexibility.
"Since we have temporarily set aside the angels on earth and ruled out the Scarbage front, our only options are the Library of Echoes and the Evening Bell of Night City."
"Do you have any ideas?"
After Angell finished speaking, he paused and said, "In order to uphold my principles and to avoid being led astray, I will abstain from voting first, and you can all express your opinions yourselves."
Upon hearing "stay true to yourself," Angell once again received a glare from Maggie.
“While you were looking for additional intelligence, everyone already discussed quite a bit,” Laplace said. “How about we hold an anonymous vote first, and then see if there are any other dissenting opinions after the results are in?”
Angell thought about it and agreed.
He had given them about half an hour to discuss it, but he figured they wouldn't come up with anything new by trying to talk it out now, so he might as well vote first.
He nodded, snapped his fingers lightly, and a small note appeared in front of everyone except him.
“You hold these little slips of paper in your hands, and whatever you think in your mind will be reflected on them in words.” Angleton paused, then looked at Gabriel: “Your tentacles can do that too.”
"After casting your vote, put it on the table, and I will count the votes later."
"Now I'll give you five minutes to think about it."
After speaking, Angell adopted a calm and collected demeanor.
After exchanging glances for a moment, everyone silently picked up the small slips of paper. Some pondered, some hesitated, and some quickly wrote down their answers and put the slips of paper back on the table.
There are also those, like Ingres, who don't fill out any slips of paper at all, such as Laplace.
Aren't you going to fill it out?
Angell turned to look at Laplace, his eyes questioning.
Laplace shook his head slightly, his lips silently saying, "I'll vote when I'm ready to enter the checkpoint."
Angell gave Laplace a deep look, then said silently, "You are more steadfast in your principles than I am; I will bestow upon you the title of the Pure."
From the very first vote, Laplace abstained from all his votes, for the same reason.
This conviction has been upheld for much longer than that of Ingres.
Laplace gave a light, annoyed snort and gestured for Angell to look at the table.
Angel had previously said he would give everyone five minutes to think, but in reality, everyone put the note back on the table after only two minutes.
Clearly, everyone cast their vote.
Angel coughed: "Are you sure you don't want to change it?"
Everyone nodded slightly.
“It seems everyone has already made their choice.” Angel waved his hand, and the slips of paper on the table turned into streams of light. After merging in mid-air for a moment, they turned back into slips of paper and were neatly stacked in front of Angel.
There were five votes in total.
Angel didn't hesitate and immediately opened the ticket: "First one, let me see what it says on it... 'Anything is fine.'"
Although it was an anonymous poll, and Angor didn't say who wrote it, everyone still instinctively looked at Gabriel when they heard the answer.
Gabriel has always maintained this attitude: as long as he can participate in the battle, he doesn't care which level he's in.
Angell: "The second one... 'Can we choose none of them?'"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone looked at Gray Porcelain.
Like Gabriel, this is also a typical gray porcelain tone.
Feeling a little uneasy under everyone's gaze, Gray Porcelain cautiously raised his hand and said quietly, "I admit this is mine, but I didn't just leave behind this sentence."
"There's another line of smaller print below."
Angell glanced silently at the line below "Can I choose neither?" where a tiny print, smaller than an ant's bite, read: "If I have to choose one, then the Echo Library."
In Gray Porcelain's opinion, the Echo Library currently has a relatively complete mechanism and fewer battle rounds, so it ultimately chose the Echo Library.
Angell picked up the third slip of paper: "This one is very simple; it just says 'Library'."
"The Echo Library currently has two votes."
The fourth slip of paper did not provide a clear answer; it simply showed a circular distribution of percentages.
The remaining four levels have been marked: Scarbugi Front and Earth Angels each account for 10%, Echo Library accounts for 36%, and Night City Evening Bell accounts for 34%.
Clearly, this voter was torn between sealing away the gods and hunting down countless ghosts.
In the end, I leaned towards the Echo Library, but it was not much different from Night City Evening Bell.
The fifth and final note read: "I abstain."
Before Angel could say anything, Maggie spoke up: "This one is my vote. It's not that I deliberately didn't choose, but I just joined today and don't know anything about the Rabbit Hole team's lineup, equipment, or strengths, so I can't make a decision."
Maggie's explanation was accepted by Angell and everyone else.
“Alright, now that everyone has seen the ticket options, everyone seems to be leaning towards the Echo Library.” Angell: “However, just to be on the safe side, before deciding on the next level, let’s all share our thoughts.”
Maggie spoke first: "As I just said, I'm not going to talk about this anymore. Next."
Gray Porcelain: "I don't know what to say. If it's really confirmed to be the Library of Echoes, I hope I don't become one of those left behind..."
Gabriel, however, didn't seem to care at all, and said with a smile, "I can stay behind."
Rabbit Girl: "I don't really have any ideas, so I'll just go to the Echo Library."
Montessam was the last to speak, and compared to the thoughts expressed by the others before him, he clearly had much more to say.
"My vote this time is based on an observer's perspective."
"What I really wanted to vote for was... Night City Evening Bell."
The reason is simple: none of the Night City Evening Bell's team members have come out of the checkpoint yet, which is very unusual.
This means that this level may be very difficult and may contain some mechanisms that prevent you from exiting.
But because none of the teams withdrew, it made Montedan think about something: the Night City Bell's observers had plenty of time to score each team.
“Barbaregon contacted me privately before because of the rating issue…”
On the leaderboard in Nereid, you can see the challenge process of some teams. After watching the challenge of the Lord of Ten Thousand Games, Barbaregon thought that his team performed better.
So why is Montedan being questioned about why he didn't give a score to the Dragon Squad, but instead gave a score to the Lord of Ten Thousand Games, whose performance was even worse?
"There are two reasons for this. First, I appreciate the bond between the members of the Lord of Ten Thousand Games team more. Second, the Rabbit Hole was cleared too quickly, and I didn't have time to check out the other teams."
The second point is more important.
If he had actually watched the Dragon Squad's performance closely, he might have given them a score. But unfortunately, Montedan didn't have time to watch. He only used the permissions granted by Wonderland to learn that the Dragon Squad hadn't gone through the challenge mode, so he concluded that they lacked a spirit of challenge and put them aside.
However, in reality, the Dragon Squad's challenge progress is the fastest in Nereid's leaderboard, excluding Rabbit Hole.
Montessandr said this not to absolve himself, but to express one thing—
“The Night City Bell’s observer has plenty of time to score each team, so he won’t have the same problems I do. This is good for the Challenger Team, but bad for us.”
"Because the observer can only give a total score of fifty points, what if he takes all the points before we even challenge Night City Evening Bell?"
It's important to understand that observers can only follow the teams they've already scored.
Even if Rabbit Hole perfectly clears Night City Evening Bell, the observers won't be able to follow them because they didn't get the observer rating.
This is definitely a huge loss for Rabbit Hole. After all, currently, the abilities of followers can contribute to the improvement of a team.
So, Montessane was actually very conflicted; he really wanted to vote for Night City Evening Bell.
“But after much deliberation, I finally chose the Library of Echoes.” Montedan said, pointing to the circular percentage chart next to Angell, which was what he had written.
"The reason is actually quite simple: compared to the previous Golden City and Nereid, the frequency and intensity of battles in the Library of Echoes have decreased by several levels."
"That's why the Echo Library is currently the most popular level in the entire player camp. Whether you're confident in your combat abilities or not, almost everyone has chosen the Echo Library."
With so many teams working together, there must be many wise and strong individuals among them.
Of the four levels that have not yet been conquered, which one is the easiest to conquer? Statistically speaking, it is definitely the Echo Library.
Montedan worried that if he didn't conquer the Echo Library, someone else would conquer the level, and all his perfect score and followers would be for naught.
Therefore, after weighing the two options, Montessori still prefers the Library of Echoes.
After explaining his reasons for voting, Montedan stopped.
But the way people looked at him was more surprised. In a poll driven by emotions, a poll driven by reason had suddenly appeared. The difference was obvious at a glance.
Even Maggie, who abstained from voting, nodded repeatedly after hearing Montand's analysis: "I agree with him. If I were to vote, I would do the same as Montand."
Laplace and Ingres were also somewhat surprised by Montessori's perspective.
Because their previous discussions focused on the difficulty of the levels, which is indeed lacking from an observer's perspective.
But upon closer examination, determining the challenge levels does indeed require considering the observer.
After all, level challenges are only temporary, but gaining the support of an observer is beneficial in the long run.
“Now that you mention it, I’m also thinking of jumping into the Night City Evening Bell…” Angel: “But your analysis later was also correct. There are too many teams challenging the Echo Library, and this level is very likely to be the first to be conquered. In order to avoid not even being able to contact the observers of this level, let’s challenge the Echo Library first.”
Finally, after a final round of anonymous voting, everyone unanimously chose the Echo Library.
Selecting the challenge levels does not mean the meeting is over.
Next comes the most terrifying moment for Gray Porcelain: selecting personnel.
“The Echo Library can only be challenged by a maximum of five people, but because the three rifts need to be closed simultaneously, at least three people are required.” Angell: “The leader and I will definitely each take one spot.”
Gray Porcelain raised his hand almost immediately: "Gabriel! Gabriel hasn't participated in the level, so it definitely needs to take up a spot!"
Gabriel nodded without hesitation, manipulating the illusion puppet: "Yes, I have to experience it!"
Angell looked at the rabbit girl, who thought for a moment and nodded: "Okay, Gabriel will take a spot too."
Upon hearing that Gabriel had taken a spot, Gray Porcelain breathed a long sigh of relief, because now three people had taken spots, meeting the minimum requirement.
But before it could even be happy for two seconds, Angell and the rabbit girl's eyes suddenly met, and they both looked at Gray Porcelain.
The gray porcelain statue was frozen in place by a spell, instantly turning into a stone statue. Before the smile on its lips could fade, fine beads of cold sweat appeared on its forehead.
"That's enough people! Don't look at me!"
It waved its hand and shrank back, saying, "There are still many people over there. Turn around and watch the others being fed!"
