Chapter 2215 - 637-638:
Feeling uneasy, the sleeping Xiao Hei shivered slightly, his chubby little hand clutching An Yiqing’s white nightgown, and his little bun-like face burrowed further into her embrace.
...Master Gu’s breath grew even heavier.
Sitting gently on the edge of the bed, Gu Yelin pulled away An Yiqing’s arm that was holding Xiao Hei. Perhaps she was too exhausted these days, she didn’t even show a hint of reaction.
A trace of heartache flashed through Gu Yelin’s eyes as he carefully picked up Xiao Hei, walked downstairs, and knocked on An Zhifeng’s bedroom door.
An Zhifeng, who was just about to go to bed, opened the door only to see a soft little body land in his arms.
"He’ll sleep with you."
An Zhifeng, looking bewildered, watched as Gu Yelin turned and left, then looked down at the sweetly sleeping Xiao Hei in his arms, and his mouth twitched hard.
On the second-floor bedroom, Gu Yelin quietly undressed, washed away the dust and fatigue, and gently slipped into bed, hugging the sleeping An Yiqing.
Feeling the soft warmth in his arms, he sighed contentedly. A month had passed, and he was going mad missing her.
With a light peck on her pink lips, Gu Yelin held An Yiqing and drifted off to sleep.
An Yiqing slept until well into the late morning the next day, waking up groggy with a feeling that she was in a small villa.
Her delicate little nose moved as if she smelled the presence of Gu Yelin beside her. She blinked, slowly sat up in bed, and shook her head.
Ah Lin was abroad, how could he be here? She must be going mad missing him.
Chuckling at herself, An Yiqing got out of bed to freshen up.
Just then, the bedroom door opened.
Dumbfounded, An Yiqing looked up at the man standing at the door with a tray, and froze.
"You..." she gazed at the man, a phrase suddenly popping into her mind—’I hope one day, a Prince Charming will come to take me away on a cloud of colorful light.’
Her eyes finally reddened.
Ignoring her bare feet, An Yiqing, like a little tiger, dashed towards the man.
Gu Yelin quickly set down the tray and caught the girl rushing into his arms, letting out a deep laugh.
"Why are you here? When did you arrive? Why didn’t you tell me in advance?" An Yiqing’s voice was muffled, a rare show of cuteness for her.
"Last night, I missed you and wanted to surprise you." Gu Yelin held An Yiqing tightly for a while, then seemed to remember something, frowning slightly, and lifted her up in a princess carry.
An Yiqing let out a squeak and quickly wrapped her arms around Gu Yelin’s neck.
With a charming smile pulling at his lips, Gu Yelin carried An Yiqing to the bed, gently placing her down, and then bent down to slip her feet into slippers.
"Even though it’s summer, the floor is chilly."
An Yiqing’s face flushed red, but she looked at the man slipping on her shoes with a sweet curve in her eyes, extending her hand to embrace his neck once more.
"Weren’t you on a mission abroad? Have you finished it?"
"Not yet, I’m going back tomorrow."
An Yiqing was taken aback, her eyes filled with water as she looked at Gu Yelin, "Why did you come back without finishing the mission?"
"I missed you."
An Yiqing felt a warmth spread in her heart, her eyes reddening again. How could she not know his worries? The chaos of the past month must have made him immensely concerned. Yet, understanding her nature, he could only worry from a distance, not daring to intervene. Now that the Yangsheng Palace had been established, and everything had settled, he probably couldn’t hold back any longer, finally rushing back!
Thinking of Gu Yelin hurrying on a plane overnight just to see her, An Yiqing’s heart turned soft.
At this moment, the sound of "gurgle gurgle" broke the warmth. An Yiqing blushed, covering her stomach, lightly biting her red lips, and looked pitifully at Gu Yelin, "I’m hungry."
Amused, Gu Yelin gently tapped her little nose and got up to bring the tray to the small table.
An Yiqing nimbly jumped out of bed and sat at the table, sniffing eagerly, "Hmm, just by smelling, I can tell Ah Lin made this!"
"Hurry and eat, it’ll get cold soon." Gu Yelin handed over the chopsticks to An Yiqing and then focused on serving her food.
An Yiqing picked up a piece of bamboo shoot and put it in her mouth; the sour, sweet, and slightly spicy freshness delighted her, "Delicious!"
With that, she stopped holding back, scooped up her bowl, and started to eat heartily.
During the meal, An Yiqing ate two-thirds of the food while Gu Yelin was coaxed into eating the remaining third. When they carried the empty dishes and bowls downstairs, the Thirteen Blood Generals, having tactfully left the villa, had certainly not forgotten to take Xiao Hei, the little third-wheel, with them.
Master Gu was quite satisfied with the Thirteen Blood Generals’ discernment, as he carried the tray with An Yiqing pitter-pattering behind, they entered the kitchen, washing dishes and playful banter entwined.
"Is everything going smoothly abroad?" An Yiqing rarely asked Gu Yelin about work, occasionally bringing it up out of concern for his safety.
"It’s okay, a few issues came up, but they can be resolved quickly." Gu Yelin didn’t hide anything.
An Yiqing paused in wiping the table, then suddenly conjured up a handful of pills out of nowhere, stuffing them into Gu Yelin’s trouser pockets.
"Since there’s danger, you need to bring more medicine, just in case." She said as she continued to stuff, only stopping once Gu Yelin’s pockets bulged, nodding in satisfaction, "If something happens, you must tell me, don’t handle it all alone. I might not be able to help much, but I can still cure and save people. Also, try not to get hurt, and if you do, apply medicine and take medicine promptly, don’t delay."
Gu Yelin stopped washing the dishes, wiped his hands on a towel, turned around, and hugged the chattering girl tightly.
"Okay, I promise you." His voice was low but powerful, each word carrying the weight of a vow, filled with commitment.
