Chapter 33 The Magic Wand
Chapter 33 The Magic Wand
In the forest at night, only six people whispered around the campfire.
Yanami got to know them and learned that they were the Slime Slayer Adventure Team, and then they introduced themselves to each other.
They gathered around the campfire.
"We found these two magic cores inside that pile of flesh and blood. Can you tell us what happened?"
The elf Cassius took out two red, round magic cores, which appeared to be the magic cores of the Bloody Slime.
"If I'm not mistaken, this should be the slime's magic core."
For the Slime Slayer Adventure Team, the slime's magic core is something they are most familiar with.
The slime core is their brain, while the magic core is the organ that activates magic.
"Klein, how should I put it?"
Klein thought for a moment.
"Well... Anyway, don't reveal my presence, and don't rush to answer. I'll remind you if there's anything you can't say. Now, just answer truthfully."
"it is good."
Yanami's telepathic ability is really useful; she can communicate right under their noses.
After ending her spiritual dialogue with Klein, Yanami spoke.
"I encountered an attack by a bloody slime."
Upon hearing Yanami's words, everyone simultaneously perked up their ears.
"It really is a bloody slime."
"I knew it! I knew it when I saw so much meat."
"Brother, you're right."
Everyone reacted in different ways, except for Slime Slayer, who simply nodded silently.
"So that's where they came from. We thought we'd run into Tide Lake, but it's been taken over by a lizard, and all the slimes have run away."
The elf Cassius sighed, but they didn't seem too surprised, as if the bloody slime that had driven Klein and Yanami to the brink of despair was quite commonplace.
"Are you looking for a bloody slime?"
"Not really. We've just been hunting all sorts of slimes, but we've never seen a blood slime, so we wanted to look for one."
"That would be too dangerous..."
Yanami knew how terrifying the Blood Slime was.
"Is the Bloody Slime very strong?"
"...They were very strong; I almost died."
Yanami nodded solemnly and answered the elf Cassius's question.
"I see... I really want to give it a try."
"challenge?!"
Yanami looked at Jokina with surprise, her brows furrowed and her eyes filled with regret.
"Yeah, after all, we're slime killers."
The elf Cassius added a sentence after Jokina finished speaking.
"But it probably can't compare to that lizard, right? After all, it was driven here."
"I'm not quite sure either."
After all, Yanami had no idea what kind of lizard they were talking about...
"No matter how strong he is, he can't compare to the captain. This guy is a true slime killer, hahaha."
Bangbang.
The black-haired assassin Spinka patted the Slime Killer's armor, and the Slime Killer suddenly stood up.
"team leader?"
"Something's here."
His gaze pierced through the armor and looked into the depths of the forest.
"Do you need any help?"
"Need not."
Clap!
He picked up the greatsword, slung it over his armor, and walked alone into the darkness.
"Is it okay for him to go alone?"
Spinka shook his head at Yanami.
"Don't worry, our captain is very strong."
"Is the unusual quietness of this forest also due to the bloody slime?"
"Yes, I didn't see any prey when I went to look for it; the place was a complete mess."
After the assassin Spinca finished speaking, Yanami began to explain:
"Yeah, it ate all the monsters in the forest, and then it set its sights on me."
"That must have been really tough."
The elf Cassius nodded in agreement with Yanami.
"Ah, I remember it like that. These slimes chase after monsters with lots of meat, but because they're so meaty, they're often chased by other monsters too, which is kind of funny."
"The monsters in Wild Dog Forest are all too weak. No wonder they can grow so big."
Afterwards, they asked Yanami about some details of the Bloody Slime, and Yanami answered them one by one, but with some necessary embellishments.
"That must have been a real ordeal, being run over by that monster. But you're really something, managing to kill it with plants."
After the Bloody Slime died, the vines that Klein used to kill it were revealed; such a huge, hollowed-out vine ball could not possibly go unnoticed.
In order not to expose Klein's existence, Yanami could only explain that it was all her doing.
"Magicians who can control plants are rare, and this kind of magic is also rare. I'm really curious what kind of magic it is..."
The sorceress Anna stroked her staff, looking somewhat excited.
Although everyone in this world possesses magic, each person has a different magical affinity, making it easier to learn magic with the same affinity.
This leads to two main professions: those skilled in high-powered external magic are mages, while those skilled in melee magic are magic warriors.
Cultivators, swordsmen, assassins, and so on are subdivided professions.
Magicians are a special case; their type can only be identified by the type of their staff.
"By the way, could you sell us these two magic cores?"
Cassius weighed the two slime cores in his hand; they were the same size.
"Huh? But I don't really need the money..."
Yanami and Klein were both isolated from the world, and had no way to spend their money.
"Give it to them; you were saved thanks to them."
Klein's voice echoed in her mind, and Yanami nodded.
"Ah... well, I'd like to give them to you as a way of repaying your kindness in saving my life."
"This won't do..."
Qiao Jinna frowned, looking somewhat troubled.
"How about this, Yanami, do you have a staff?"
"no."
"We'll take one magic core, then help you turn the other one into a staff, and give you some other useful items. How about that?"
"Klein..."
Yanami once again left the choice to Klein.
"I think it's a great suggestion. Yanami, you're just in need of a weapon."
The magic core was useless to Klein, and Yanami didn't know how to deal with it.
"I just need a wand, thank you."
"No, we should thank you, but it will take some time. We'll give you the wand when we set off."
"Win-win, win-win."
The magic core was handed over to Anna, so it seems that she, the magician, will be responsible for making it.
"But... could you teach me some powerful magic? I'm currently lacking in that kind of magic."
Everyone looked at the only magician, Anna, who was keeping her head down somewhat reservedly.
"But... I'm only good at fire magic, and you're a plant magician."
Fire magic?
Upon hearing this magic, Klein suddenly remembered the properties of the Flame Flower he had previously acquired; perhaps fire magic could be useful.
But Yanami hesitated when she heard the words "fire magic," just as Anna had said, fire magic was a disaster for plants.
"Yanami, let's learn fire magic."
"Huh? But I'm afraid I might accidentally burn Klein..."
"It's okay."
"Okay, I believe Klein."
Yanami looked at Anna and shook her head.
"Fire magic is fine too, I'll try my best to learn it!"
"If you're willing, I... I have no objection, I'll write down the magic."
"So Anna ended up handling everything."
Anna's brother, Spinka, came over and ruffled Anna's hair.
Then Anna glared at him.
"Brother, brother, please help me collect materials!"
rustle……
Strange noises came from the forest, like a huge object being dragged across the ground.
"The captain is back."
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound, and after a while, Slime Killer appeared, dragging a tail.
No, to be precise... that was a dragon without wings—the tail of an earth dragon.
Its massive body was two meters tall even when it was lying on the ground, but its exterior was hacked to pieces.
"Ah~ it's that lizard again, but it looks like a baby, similar to the one in Tide Lake."
So that's what the lizard refers to?!
And the Bloody Slime was driven here by this thing?
Are these adventurers... incredibly strong?
Klein felt a pang of sadness.
