Chapter 32 Return Chapter
Chapter 32 Return Chapter
Ruslan pulled the bolt: "Enemy patrol?"
"It doesn't look like it." Eugene looked at the thermal imager. "It's moving too slowly, and the heat source is reacting very abnormally. The center temperature is extremely high, but the temperature at the edges is constantly decreasing. It looks like... a person who is about to die."
"Artyom, target confirmed," Yuri said.
Artyom picked up his sniper rifle and observed through the thermal imaging scope: "It's a living person. Covered in blood, walking on his hands and knees with his rifle. Wearing Ukrainian army camouflage."
Artyom paused. "Boss, it's about 400 meters away, and the fog is interfering at night. I can't see his face clearly, and I'm not confident I can kill him with one shot. Should we get closer to scout?"
Yuri's heart skipped a beat, and a strong intuition surged through him.
"No need to fire. Lift the alert." Yuri stood up. "Roman, take the medical kit and come with me."
The four hundred meters were covered in an instant.
Yuri finally saw Lu Ye's condition clearly, and even Yuri, who was used to seeing mountains of corpses and seas of blood, couldn't help but gasp.
The Lu Ye before me can hardly be called a complete person anymore.
His Ukrainian camouflage uniform had turned dark red.
On his right side, a gruesome wound oozed foamy blood with each labored breath.
His left arm hung limply at his side, clearly dislocated or fractured.
But he still did not fall.
He gripped the assault rifle tightly with his right hand, which was covered in mud and blood, and slammed the barrel into the mud to support his swaying body.
His eyes were bloodshot and bloodshot. When he saw several fully armed figures rushing over, Lu Ye's brain, which was already extremely blurred due to excessive blood loss, only retained the last bit of fighting instinct.
He let out a beastly roar, pulled out the military knife stuck in his thigh, and swung it forward.
Yuri grabbed Lu Ye's wrist.
"Lu, it's me. Yuri," Yuri said.
Lu Ye froze, his movements halting.
"Yuri... The Undertaker..." Lu Ye's voice was hoarse.
"Yes. You're safe now." Yuri helped Lu Ye up.
Roman knelt down on one knee, tore open Lu Ye's clothes at the waist, and took out hemostatic forceps and coagulant.
"The bullet went through his side. No internal organs were damaged." Roman quickly treated the wound, then glanced up. "His heart rate is over 180. He's probably on a massive dose of adrenaline; he's pushing himself to the limit!"
Ruslan and Eugene exchanged a glance: with penetrating wounds and adrenaline pumping, they had walked nearly ten kilometers in the wilderness.
Lu Ye ignored Roman's handling of the situation.
He grabbed Yuri's arm instead.
With difficulty, he reached into his inner pocket with his left hand, fumbled for a moment, and then pulled out a tactical terminal stained with blood.
"M777 howitzer... Workshop 3..."
Lu Ye shoved the terminal into Yuri's hand.
"Mission accomplished. Now... I'm yours."
Lu Ye closed his eyes and fainted in Yuri's arms.
Yuri gripped the tactical terminal tightly, looking at the young man in his arms who had fallen into a deep coma.
"Roman, use the best medicine to save him." Yuri stood up. "Ruslan, carry him on your back. Let's go back to camp."
Yuri glanced around at his squad members.
"From today onwards, our Black Scythe Squad has gained a sharper blade and a comrade-in-arms to risk his life for!"
-----------------
As the first rays of dawn pierced through the thick clouds, Vorov anxiously awaited news from the front lines in the command room of Camp 17.
The adjutant rushed in, bursting through the door to report: "Colonel! Commander Yuri's Black Scythe Squad is back! They... they brought back that Chinese guy who went to the chemical plant on a reconnaissance mission! That kid's still alive!"
"What did you say?!" Wolf slammed the wine glass in his hand on the table, and his fat face twitched again.
He abruptly stood up, pushing back his chair. "Let's go! To Black Scythe's tent! I want to see for myself what's going on!"
Vorov, his belly protruding, walked out of the command room. After only a few steps, he suddenly stopped and turned to look at his adjutant who was following closely behind him.
"Go! Go to the archives immediately!" Vorov narrowed his eyes, a shrewd and calculating glint in them. "Find me the file of that cannon fodder guy named Lu Ye. Take it with you, and come with me to see Yuri!"
"Yes, Colonel!" The adjutant acknowledged the order, quickly turned around, and jogged away.
When Vorov arrived at the Black Scythe Squad's tent with his adjutant who had taken the files, they ran right into the Funeral Carry Squad returning from the morning mist.
On Ruslan's back was Lu Ye, who was covered in blood.
Blood was dripping from Ruslan's tactical vest onto the muddy ground.
Wolf was completely stunned when he saw the Asian youth, whose fate was unknown, clinging to Ruslan's back.
"This is unbelievable..." Wolf's eyes widened, his voice filled with barely concealed shock. "This Chinese guy actually came back alive?!"
"Lay him flat and prepare the operating table!" Yuri ignored Vorov and turned to give orders to his squad members.
Ruslan and Eugene immediately carried Lu Ye into the military tent, with Roman following closely behind carrying a medical kit.
Wolf rubbed his hands together, took a curious step forward, and wanted to follow him into the tent: "Let me go in and see this amazing kid, who exactly is he...?"
"stop."
Yuri stepped forward and blocked the entrance to the military tent.
He stared coldly at Wolf: "Emergency treatment is underway inside. Unauthorized personnel are not permitted to enter."
Wolf's face stiffened, and he was about to explode.
Yuri pulled the blood-stained tactical terminal from the pocket of his tactical vest and waved it in front of Vorov.
"The coordinates you requested are inside," Yuri said calmly. "Workshop Three, the Ukrainian army's three M777 howitzers along with an entire ammunition depot. Quickly call in your missile units for a precision strike, or they'll have already moved to a different position."
Wolf's eyes lit up instantly, his greedy gaze fixed on the tactical terminal.
He eagerly reached out his chubby hand, wanting to take the terminal.
Just as his fingers were about to touch the edge of the terminal, Yuri flipped his wrist and pulled the terminal back.
Wolford missed his target, and his face immediately darkened: "Yuri, what do you mean by this? We had an agreement!"
"Where's Lu Ye's file?" Yuri stretched out his other hand, palm up.
Wolf snorted coldly, turned to look at his adjutant behind him, and said, "Give him the documents!"
The adjutant immediately pulled a stamped paper file from his briefcase and handed it to Vorov.
Wolf slammed the file folder onto Yuri's hand roughly.
"Now, this kid's personnel file is yours. Give me the coordinates!" Wolford reached for the tactical terminal again.
Yuri twisted his wrist, and the tactical terminal once again avoided Wolf's fingers.
"Yuri! What exactly do you want?!" Wolf finally lost his temper and roared, raising his voice, "Do you think I'm a monkey?!"
"Don't get excited, Colonel." Yuri stuffed the paper file into his pocket and held up two fingers. "I have two more trivial requests."
