Chapter 429 Going to Investigate
Chapter 429 Going to Investigate
Meanwhile, Wang Tian had already followed Zhao Fei to the office.
As soon as he entered, Zhao Fei said in a commanding tone, "Close the door!"
"Okay!" Wang Tian immediately went forward, closed the door, and locked it from the inside.
Zhao Fei stood behind his desk, his hands resting on the surface, his head bowed, seemingly deep in thought about something important.
After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly looked up at Wang Tian and said, "I'm going to give you a very difficult task this time. I need you to install listening devices and miniature cameras. I wonder if you can do it?"
"Huh?" Wang Tian frowned. "Captain, whose place is it going to be installed at? This seems a bit of an invasion of privacy and doesn't comply with the rules, does it?"
“I understand.” Zhao Fei nodded slightly, a helpless expression on his face. “But this case involves the lives of five people from a family of five! Anyway, if anything goes wrong, I will take full responsibility. You just need to do as I say. Of course, this case is indeed very dangerous because I suspect that one of them is the murderer.”
"Why would you have such doubts?" Wang Tian asked curiously.
Zhao Fei felt she had the right to know the reason, so he explained, "Because before the incident, the surveillance cameras at the elevator entrance and in the hallway downstairs showed that no one went upstairs, and that family lived on the top floor. So I speculated that the only possible perpetrator was the family across the street." As he spoke, he took out several listening devices and pinhole cameras from his drawer.
"Oh! I understand!" Wang Tian nodded gently, but seemed to be weighing something.
Just then, Zhao Fei said, "Now that you understand, what are you still doing sitting here? Why aren't we leaving?"
Wang Tian then came to her senses, hurriedly grabbed the listening devices and pinhole cameras, and replied, "Okay, I'll go right away." Without further ado, she got up and left.
After Wang Tian left, Zhao Fei shook his head to himself and muttered, "Sigh, she's really silly. I don't know what she's thinking every day."
Meanwhile, after leaving, Wang Tian realized she didn't know the family's address. Just then, she saw Xiang Yuntian standing opposite her, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and walk over, asking softly, "Do you know where that family that was wiped out lived?"
Hearing Wang Tian's question, Xiang Yuntian thought for a moment and then said, "I know! They live there..."
At this point, Xiang Yuntian worried that he might not be able to explain it clearly verbally, and also feared that Wang Tian might forget it later, so he picked up a pen and paper, wrote down the address, and handed it to her.
"Alright, here's the address. Just follow this to find your way there." With that, Xiang Yuntian handed the paper with the address written on it to Wang Tian.
Wang Tian took the address, glanced at it, nodded slightly, and smiled gently, saying, "Thank you, Forensic Doctor Xiang!"
"You're welcome!" Xiang Yuntian felt that since they were all colleagues, it was only right to help.
After getting the address, she went out, took a taxi, and headed to her destination. In the car, she kept thinking: What should I say to those three people when I see them?
After thinking for a long time, she still couldn't come up with a suitable reason.
Soon, the taxi arrived at the address, and the driver took her directly to her building. At this point, even though she hadn't thought of what to say, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and go upstairs.
When she arrived at the address, she walked to the house across the street, raised her right hand, and gently pressed the doorbell with her index finger.
A short while later, someone came to open the door.
When the man saw that it was a woman, he thought she had the wrong number and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for... Mu Zhen. Does he live here?"
Upon hearing her question, the man looked her up and down, then nodded slightly and said, "That's right, Mu Zhen does live here. What do you need him for?"
"Hmm..." Wang Tian thought for a moment, then replied, "There's something I need to ask him about the family across the street."
"Are you a reporter?" the young man asked.
Wang Tian quickly shook her head, took out her ID to show him, and said, "No, I am actually a police officer."
"Oh, so you're a police officer!" The man nodded slightly. "Hello, I'm Muzhen."
Upon hearing that the person in front of her was Mu Zhen, Wang Tian smiled slightly and said, "That's great, can I come in?"
Seeing that she didn't seem to be lying, Mu Zhen took a step back, nodded, and said, "Okay, come in. My roommates are here too; you can ask them."
"Okay! Then call them all out."
After Mu Zhen turned around, Wang Tian began to install cameras and listening devices in the room.
Sensing that they were about to come out, Wang Tian quickly sat down, pretending to be nonchalant.
After Mu Zhen brought his two roommates out, he introduced them to Wang Tian: "These two are my roommates. The tall one is called Xu Zu, and the short and fat one is called Wang Dou."
Wang Tian quickly nodded, greeted them, and then asked, "Do you know anything about the case across the street?"
"Of course I know! Although the three of us are all homebodies." Wang Dou said as he sat down next to Wang Tian, seemingly having some affection for her.
Wang Tian knew he wouldn't dare to act rashly, so she let him sit beside her. But she didn't forget Zhao Fei's instructions and focused her attention on Xu Zu.
So her gaze remained fixed on Xu Zu.
Xu Zu felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze and asked with a wry smile, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"It's nothing, I'm just a little curious," Wang Tian said.
Xu Zu frowned slightly and asked, "What are you curious about?"
Wang Tian couldn't directly say that she suspected him of being the murderer. What if he really was? Wouldn't that alert him?
Then, on a sudden inspiration, she said, "I'm curious how your parents managed to make you so handsome!"
In an instant, the three of them laughed at her cheesy pickup line, finding her quite easygoing. She quickly built a good relationship with them, appearing to get along well on the surface, and even asked them a lot of questions about the family across the street.
According to the three of them, the male head of the household and his father had a bad relationship and often fought and argued, which kept the neighbors from sleeping well at night.
