Chapter 88 Picking Red Dates with Feng

Yang said, "Today is the first prayer meeting of winter. Have all the people prepared food for the winter?"

The beastmen present responded in unison, "Ready!"

Many fruits lay scattered on the ground; were they too ripe, or had they been blown down by the strong winds of a few days prior? Linni patted Feng on the back: "Feng, what kind of fruits are those?"

Feng looked up and said, "Those red berries are quite delicious, and the women in the tribe like to eat them too, but because they ripen a bit late, few people come out to pick them. Do you want to pick them yourself or should I help you?"

Linni looked at the tall tree. How could she reach the fruit on it? She said shyly, "I want to pick them, but I can't reach them."

The tiger-shaped Maple leaped lightly onto the trunk of the fruit tree, its massive body standing firmly on top. Just as Lin Ni was worried that it might break the tree, it transformed back into human form and reached out to lift Lin Ni off its back, saying, "Be careful, you can pick them."

Feng stretched out his long arm and grabbed a branch laden with fruit: "Pick some, try them and see if you like them."

Lin Ni looked at the red berries in front of her, then glanced down at Feng, and really wanted to give him a thumbs up! She picked a ripe red berry, wiped it on her clothes, then took off her mask and took a bite: crisp, sweet, and refreshing, with tender flesh, juicy and without any residue: "So delicious! Feng, I want to pick all these berries and take them home!"

Feng looked at the tree full of fruit and said, "I need to go home and get the animal skin bag."

Linni nodded as she ate: "This fruit is called red date. It's edible even before it's fully ripe. If you come earlier in the future, you can pick it and dry it in the fall. You can eat it or use it in soup. It's good for replenishing blood."

Feng nodded: "Okay. What do you mean by 'replenishing blood'?"

Lin Ni: "It's used to make soup after you're injured and bleeding, or after you give birth to your cubs, or like when I had a lot of bleeding during my period, it's good to eat before and after your period. Anyway, it's a very powerful fruit."

Feng repeated softly, "Lin's menstrual period."
