Chapter 26: A Passerby in a CEO Romance Novel (26)
"Xiao Ze, I'm back."
The apartment door opened, and Jiang Wandie, looking tired, entered carrying a small cake.
"Ozawa?"
Jiang Wandie was puzzled as her younger brother, who used to be the first to greet her, was not making a sound. Thinking of her brother's heart condition, she felt uneasy.
The cake was casually placed in the entryway, and Jiang Wandie hurriedly walked inside.
Jiang Yanzhe then heard the sound and poked his head out of the kitchen. "Sister, I'm here."
Jiang Wandie breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Jiang Yanzhe was alright.
She looked at Jiang Yanzhe, who was holding a kitchen knife, with some curiosity, her brows furrowing slightly. "Xiaoze, why did you suddenly start cooking? Put the knife down quickly, or you might hurt yourself."
Jiang Wandie quickly stepped forward, intending to take the knife from Jiang Yanzhe's hand.
Jiang Yanzhe stopped her, shaking his head repeatedly with a sweet smile on his face: "Sister, I'll cook today. You go and rest first, I'll call you later."
Leyan said she wanted to eat the food he cooked himself, and he couldn't rely on others to do it.
My older sister won't do either.
Jiang Wandie looked at him hesitantly, about to say something, but unexpectedly saw the key placed next to the cutting board. Her eyes flickered slightly, and she nodded, saying, "Okay, you go ahead and do your work. I'll go back to my room and rest for a bit."
"Oh, by the way, I bought a small cake. Remember to put it in the refrigerator first."
Jiang Wandie pointed back to the cake in the entryway, gave Jiang Yanzhe some instructions, and then prepared to go back to her room.
As Jiang Wandie passed by Jiang Yanzhe's room, she glanced at the door lock out of the corner of her eye. Feeling her younger brother's gaze on her from behind, she looked away, lost in thought.
After watching his sister return to her room, Jiang Yanzhe finally felt a little relieved and went back to preparing the ingredients.
My sister is soft-hearted; if she discovers Leyan's existence, she will definitely let her go.
On the other side, after sitting quietly in the room for a while, Jiang Wandie found a key in the cabinet and quietly went out.
Standing at the door of her younger brother's room, Jiang Wandie paused, glanced back at the kitchen, and only after confirming that Jiang Yanzhe wasn't paying attention did she put the key into the lock.
Inside the house, hearing a sound at the door, Le Yan, who had just finished rummaging through drawers and was studying the computer, quickly put the computer back in its place.
She hurriedly sat back on the bed, hugged her knees, buried her head between her legs, and looked like she was withdrawn.
She quietly perked up her ears and heard the door open and someone slowly walking in.
Jiang Wandie looked at the figure with suspicion and uncertainty, unsure whether to step forward or back.
what happened?
Why is Leyan in Xiaoze's room?
After hesitating for a moment, Jiang Wandie carefully walked to the bedside, patted Le Yan, and called out anxiously, "Assistant Le?"
A soft female voice sounded in her ear. Le Yan was startled at first, then suddenly looked up and her eyes lit up the moment she saw Jiang Wandie.
"Miss Jiang!"
Le Yan held Jiang Wandie's hand, not daring to speak loudly, her eyes filled with pleading for help.
"Miss Jiang, Jiang Yanzhe has tied me up! Can you please help me and let me go? My mother is waiting for me at home!"
"Tie up?" Jiang Wandie's pupils dilated in shock. She hadn't expected that Le Yan had been kidnapped here by her younger brother.
Seeing the sincere plea and fear in Le Yan's eyes, Jiang Wandie had no choice but to believe it. She blinked incessantly, took Le Yan's hand in return, and comforted her, "Assistant Le, don't worry, I will help you."
"Really?" Le Yan asked, half believing it.
After all, it was Jiang Wandie's own brother who kidnapped her; could he really possibly stand on her side?
“Really!” Jiang Wandie nodded firmly.
“...I believe you.” Le Yan met her gaze. She had no other choice but to trust the kind-hearted and gentle heroine described in the book.
Jiang Wandie gently stroked Le Yan's eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips, "Trust me, I won't hurt you."
She leaned forward and hugged Le Yan, her expression strange where Le Yan couldn't see.
Worried that Jiang Yanzhe would find out if she stayed too long, Jiang Wandie said, "I'm going to go talk to Xiaoze. Wait for me."
After saying that, she went out the door.
Like Jiang Yanzhe, she locked the door.
Hearing the sound of the lock clicking shut, Le Yan felt a sense of foreboding.
After a moment of contemplation, she realized she couldn't rely solely on Jiang Wandie, so she got out of bed again and started tinkering with the computer.
Yeah, hackers' computers are really hard to mess with.
Unbeknownst to Le Yan, who continued to struggle with a sigh, Jiang Wandie was confronting Jiang Yanzhe outside the door.
The older sister stood at the doorway of the room, and the younger brother stood at the doorway of the kitchen. Their eyes met, and their expressions were complex.
"Let's talk."
Jiang Wandie moved first; she went to the balcony and waited for Jiang Yanzhe to come over.
Looking up at the bright moon hanging high in the sky, Jiang Wandie wore an inscrutable smile.
Jiang Yanzhe was somewhat agitated. He stood behind Jiang Wandie, unable to speak for a long time.
Just what I feared most has come to pass; how did my sister find out?
He lowered his head slightly, his hands behind his back constantly grasping at the air. If he didn't do something to distract himself, he was afraid he really wouldn't be able to listen to his sister.
It's impossible for him to let Leyan go...
"Let's leave Jiangcheng."
Jiang Wandie's words interrupted all of Jiang Yanzhe's thoughts.
He looked at his older sister in surprise, "W-what?"
Jiang Wandie smiled and turned to look at him, saying each word carefully, "I said, let's leave Jiangcheng."
"Take her with you."
Now that the bright moon is in our hands, it's time to leave this smoky and chaotic place.
Otherwise, sooner or later someone will come knocking on your door.
Jiang Wandie's mind flashed with those annoying faces, and her eyes sharpened.
"Xiao Ze, I don't care when you found out about her or how you brought her back. I just want you to make arrangements so we can leave Jiangcheng as soon as possible."
Finally realizing what he had heard, Jiang Yanzhe's eyes lit up with astonishing brightness as he looked at his sister in disbelief.
Although he was surprised that his sister had this side to her, his excitement outweighed his surprise. He knew that he no longer had to choose between his sister and his lover.
Jiang Yanzhe nodded with a light laugh, his expression one of ecstasy. "Okay, sister, I'll go prepare right away."
He was about to turn around, but then stopped. "Sister, you won't be soft-hearted towards her, will you?"
"will not."
Jiang Wandie answered decisively.
I can be soft-hearted about anything, except one thing: letting her go.
