Chapter 1 Horstley, Let's Get a Divorce
Chapter 1 Horstley, Let's Get a Divorce
Are you going out?
Just as the passion subsided and Jiang Qin could barely move, she vaguely saw Huo Sili quickly putting on his clothes.
She was somewhat surprised. Besides being Huo Sili's secret wife, she was also his secretary and knew perfectly well that Huo Sili had finished all his work for the day, and it was already 11 p.m.
Huo Sili buttoned up the collar of his shirt, hummed in agreement, glanced at Jiang Qin, and quickly looked away.
"Pack it up yourself."
After saying that, he grabbed his coat and walked out, slamming the door shut behind him.
Jiang Qin stared blankly at the closed door for a few seconds, then sat up from the bed with a bitter smile on her lips.
Marriages between people of unequal social standing are often like this: once the man has tasted the sweetness of success, he no longer cherishes it.
However, seeing the marks that were easily visible in the mirror and her slightly swollen lips, Jiang Qin really couldn't understand it.
If Huo Sili has changed his mind, why does he still kiss her like that, filled with possessiveness?
After tidying myself up and getting into bed, it was already past midnight when I lay down again.
Jiang Qin knew that Huo Sili wouldn't be coming back tonight, but she still couldn't sleep because it was probably the first time Huo Sili hadn't come home for the night outside of work.
I don't know what time it was before I finally fell asleep in the early hours of the morning.
The next morning, Jiang Qin was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the door. When she opened the door, she saw a stranger.
"Good morning, Madam! I've made you some medicinal porridge! Come down and eat after you've washed up!"
The woman standing at the door spoke in a sarcastic tone, her eyes clearly hostile.
Jiang Qin took a moment to realize that this was probably the live-in aunt Liu that her mother-in-law, Yuan Lianqing, had mentioned on the phone yesterday that she wanted to come and help her.
Her mother-in-law disliked her and would come over several times a month to find fault with her. There was a live-in nanny named Wang Ma in Yunhai Huafu, but when her mother-in-law came last time, she was rebuked by Huo Sili. This time, she probably didn't want to come in person, so she sent someone instead, saying it was to show concern for their health.
But the visitor was undoubtedly up to no good. However, given his status as an elder and the seemingly legitimate reason, Jiang Qin had no choice but to comply on the surface.
Jiang Qin glanced at the other person indifferently, replied "okay," and went inside to wash up.
As expected, when she came down, a bowl of dark, mushy medicinal porridge was placed in front of her seat. Before she even got close, the complex smell of bitterness and foulness assaulted her nostrils.
Jiang Qin instinctively covered her nose, but it was too late; a wave of extreme nausea washed over her.
Aunt Liu was still nagging, "Madam, I got up early this morning and cooked this for two hours! Please eat it! It's good for your health!"
Jiang Qin frowned, tightened her grip on her nose, and patted her chest with one hand. Feeling a bit better, she was about to say something when the nausea returned to her throat, so she quickly walked to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, Jiang Qin leaned on the sink, unable to vomit, probably due to insomnia. She felt dizzy and lightheaded for a moment, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
"Madam, you're not pregnant, are you?" Liu Ma, who had followed them to the door, asked in a low voice, her face showing guilt and lingering fear.
Jiang Qin paused, glanced at Liu Ma through the mirror, straightened up while catching her breath, didn't answer, washed her hands and left.
Once outside, driver Uncle Yang was already waiting, and Jiang Qin opened the door and got in the car.
Uncle Yang handed over a bag. "Madam, this is breakfast that Sister Wang went out to buy for you. She said that the new Liu Ma has taken up all the kitchen space, so she can't cook anything and went to buy some for you."
Jiang Qin habitually thanked her, took the bag, and saw that it contained all her favorite foods. However, after that olfactory stimulation, she really had no appetite. Moreover, after what Aunt Liu had said earlier, she suddenly thought of something—
Her period hasn't come this month; it's already a week late.
In previous months, even if she delayed, it would only be for a day or two at most, which is somewhat unusual.
However, pregnancy is unlikely; Horstley always takes precautions, and...
Jiang Qin lowered her eyelashes. Huo Sili had said that they would not have children.
There are several large hospitals near the Huo Group headquarters. Putting aside her thoughts, Jiang Qin carefully chose one and planned to see a doctor after get off work.
The car pulled up to the side of the road near the Huo family's gate as usual. Jiang Qin got out of the car with her things and arrived at the office area, where several employees were gossiping.
Upon seeing her, everyone greeted her, "Good morning, Secretary Jiang!"
"Good morning," Jiang Qin smiled.
The group continued chatting. Jiang Qin had no interest in gossip and was about to enter the president's office when she heard something and stopped in her tracks.
"It's been six years, and as soon as Xuexue came back, President Huo went to pick her up at the airport in the middle of the night. If this isn't true love, what is it?!"
"Right, right? They're such a perfect match! One's a prince from Beijing's elite circle, the other's a rising starlet. A domineering CEO and a sweet girl, oh my god, it's my blessing to be shipping them!"
"Shh, keep your voice down, Mr. Huo should be here soon."
Jiang Qin tightened her grip on the breakfast bag, pushed open the door, sat down in her office chair, hesitated for a moment, and then turned on her phone.
Just as she was about to check, her best friend Su Lejia sent her the information she needed.
Several voice messages, links, screenshots, and photos were sent. In the voice messages, Su Lejia's voice was filled with anger and heartache.
"Qinqin, that Huo guy is a bastard! He actually treated you, treated you like..."
What? Jiang Qin's heart pounded like a drum for no reason as she clicked on one of the photos.
Late last night, at the airport exit, Horstley escorted a woman into a car, and the two were visibly intimate.
Upon seeing the woman's face, Jiang Qin understood what Su Lejia wanted to say, and at the same time, her mind went blank.
The woman looked remarkably like her, about seven or eight parts.
However, because the woman's makeup and clothing were on the sweeter side, she seemed quite different from her at first glance. But those who knew her well would easily recognize that she and the other woman did indeed look very similar.
In the fourth year of her secret marriage with Huo Sili, Jiang Qin finally learned that Huo Sili had always harbored a secret love for someone else, and that she had always been his substitute.
pat.
Tears dripped onto the breakfast bag, and there was a knock at the door.
Jiang Qin quickly wiped away her tears, turned off her phone, and said, "Please come in."
The employee who came in put down a stack of documents. "Secretary Jiang, these are documents that need to be signed by President Huo."
“Okay, put it there. I’ll talk to President Huo when he arrives,” Jiang Qin said.
The staff left quickly, but twenty minutes past the start time, Horsley still hadn't arrived.
Jiang Qin composed herself and called Huo Sili, but no one answered after two attempts.
Jiang Qin suddenly felt very tired. Marriage was tiring, work was tiring, and her mind and body were both tired.
Having a husband like that is the most tiring.
Jiang Qin dialed for the third time, and the phone was still ringing when suddenly the door opened.
A familiar figure appeared at the doorway. He was tall with long legs, broad shoulders and a narrow waist, fair skin, deep-set eyes, thin lips and a straight nose, and was exceptionally handsome.
Jiang Qin put down her phone and hung up, then stood up without her noticing.
She glanced at the stack of documents, looked at Huo Sili, and thought to herself: Mr. Huo, these need your signature.
However, when he spoke, his voice was forced to remain calm: "Hosley, let's...get a divorce."
The moment the words were spoken, Jiang Qin wondered if it was just her imagination, but it was probably just her imagination, because she soon saw a smile on Huo Sili's lips.
"Jiang Qin, what did you say? Divorce?"
The man strode toward her, leaned slightly forward, and placed his hands on the edge of her desk. His tall, strong body blocked the sunlight streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Their eyes met, as if he wanted to see right through her.
"Did I hear that right, Qinqin? Could you say it again?"
