Chapter 190: A vessel.
Jeanne and Brunhilde had taken Denmark and they both went straight to Norway. They were welcomed by heavy artilleries and big caliber bullets as if they were some kind of monsters that came to destroy the whole nation. They both were too powerful for man-made weapons, and the fact they did that to them only made Brynhilde stronger with her [Oneness] skill.
They killed everyone and destroyed everything that tried to stop them without showing any mercy. It didn’t take a while until Norway ran out of both human and weapon resources. They realized how doomed they were and there was nothing that could stop those two from doing whatever they wanted to their country.
Magnus heard about the news and he was devastated, angered, and anxious at the same time. He was glad that he brought the royal family to safety, but his job wasn’t done because he had to persuade Odin to let the royal family enter the gate with him.
"I’m going in," Magnus said as he looked at his friends and the royal family in the tent. "It should take them a few hours before they came here, so I’ll be back before they arrived," Magnus added and then left to enter the gate on his own.
Magnus took a deep breath before he entered the gate, and when he got teleported to Midgard, he was surprised when he saw Heimdall sitting on top of a boulder. He gulped nervously because Heimdall was supposed to be staying in Asgard to overwatch all nine realms.
"I know you’re coming, and I know what’s the purpose of your visit," Heimdall said as he overlooked Midgard and could see Jeanne and Brynhilde in the far distance. "You can bring those people here, and they will be safe, but you have to pay the price," Heimdall added without looking back at Magnus.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"I’ll do whatever it takes as long as the royal family is safe," Magnus said without hesitation.
"I think you have mistaken about the price," Heimdall paused and turned around to look at Magnus. "What I mean with the price is that you have to offer yourself and your life," Heimdall continued and stared Magnus in the eye.
Magnus was surprised and speechless for a moment as his mind wondered about what had just happened. He then closed his eyes and realized what he asked for was too much, and he was glad that his request was granted, so his life was worth the payment.
"I understand," Magnus nodded his head and he had no regret.
Heimdall could see Magnus’ determination and he was pleased to see that, so he raised his sword and pointed at the sky. The path was opened, the rainbow bridge, Bifrost, and then he offered his hand to Magnus. The moment Magnus grabbed Heimdall’s hand, he could see flashes passing by in the corner of his eyes.
Magnus was brought to Asgard, and he still couldn’t comprehend the view even though it was his second time. He could see the peaceful massive city of Gods, and he could see three massive palaces in the distance.
"You have such a pure heart for a human, and you have a righteous flame on your back. You’re a fine warrior that I would recommend you to All-Father to put you by his side," Heimdall said as he guided Magnus and walked in between the Gods.
"I did things that were always the best for the masses, but this time, I made a huge mistake. I don’t think I would be worthy of the praises," Magnus replied as he shook his head and looked down at his feet to respect the Gods around him.
"You have passed the test and I’m pleased to see that," Odin said as he looked at Magnus. "So you have agreed with the price, let’s cut to the chase," Odin pointed out.
Magnus went down to his knees in front of Odin and lowered his head to show his vulnerability and respect for Odin. Odin was impressed and couldn’t help but smile at Magnus’ determination.
"I’m here to offer my life, God Odin, the All-Father," Magnus said.
"I don’t need your life, I only need your body for me to use it as a vessel," Odin pointed out as he looked down at Magnus. "You can still have your life and body, but when the time comes, I will take over that body of yours and make it mine. After hearing that, are you still agreeing with the price?" Odin asked.
Magnus nodded his head without saying a single word because he had prepared for everything. And so Odin put his hand on Magnus’s head, and then he manipulated Magnus’ mind and body.
Magnus passed out immediately, and when he opened his eyes, Odin had disappeared. Heimdall was standing in front of him with his arms crossed and then pushed Magnus down to the ground. Magnus felt like his body had sunk into the abyss and could feel the weight on his chest until suddenly he snapped back to reality and found out he was sent down to Midgard.
"Bring them in, and we will protect them," Heimdall’s voice could be heard in the sky.
Magnus nodded and left the gate to go back and inform the royal family. When he came out of the gate, he was surprised that Jeanne and Brynhilde were already near the gate. Everyone raised their weapons to fight them as they protected the royal family.
"Bring the king and his family into the gate! Hurry!" Magnus shouted. "I’ll deal with them!" Magnus added.
Everyone entered the gate and guided the royal family inside, leaving a few men behind to stop Jeanne and Brynhilde. They were scared and nervous to fight those two because they knew it would be impossible to win against them.
"We have taken a lot of lives, so why don’t you lower your weapons? We will spare your lives," Jeanne said as she looked at Magnus and noticed something was different about him. "You don’t want Odin to waste his vessel, right?" Jeanne asked with her eyebrows raised.
Magnus was shocked that Jeanne knew about his condition.
"Why are you doing this?" Magnus asked with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Why did you make us your enemies?" Jeanne asked back with her eyebrows raised.
