Chapter 16 Riding in his car
Chapter 16 Riding in his car
I learned this from their conversation.
Li Man is of mixed race; her father is Chinese and her mother is French.
No wonder she has such exquisite features.
They chatted until very late before Jona returned to her dormitory, still looking somewhat reluctant.
"Hello, my name is Li Man, you can also call me Leila," Li Man introduced herself.
Jona glanced at the girl in front of her, then casually said, "My name is Jona."
Jona took her bag off somewhat dejectedly and casually placed it on her desk.
Li Man took out a box of chocolates from her pocket and handed it to Qiao Na: "Here, have a taste, it's delicious."
Jona hesitated for a moment, then waved her hand: "Thank you, but no thanks, I don't like chocolate."
“Alright then, see what you want to eat, I have plenty here.” Despite being rejected, Li Man wasn’t upset and opened the bag for Qiao Na to choose from.
It was clear that Jona didn't really want to eat, perhaps out of embarrassment, since she had already refused once. She simply reached out and grabbed a little something, saying, "Thank you."
Li Man is a very enthusiastic and cheerful girl. She kept the atmosphere lively and found many topics to chat about with everyone.
"Since we're in the same dorm, does that mean we're all majoring in instrumental performance?" Li Man asked curiously as she sat in her chair.
Ning Yi nodded and replied, "That should be the case. When assigning dorm rooms, students majoring in the same field will definitely be grouped together."
Li Man seemed to be deep in thought, her voice sweet and charming: "So what's your best instrument?"
An Xiaonuo: "I'm better at the violin."
Jona: "I am the piano."
Li Man continued, "I am a guzheng player."
"Xiao Yi, what about you?" Li Man turned to look at Ning Yi.
Ning Yi was a little taken aback by the sudden nickname. It seemed that Li Man was quite outgoing, calling her by her nickname on the very first day they met.
Ning Yi replied softly, "I'm a violinist too."
Then Li Man continued, talking to herself, "How about we go to the school together tomorrow and take a look around? We can also check out the clubs."
“Sure,” An Xiaonuo and Ning Yi both replied, while Qiao Na indicated that she didn’t mind.
Over the past two days, Ning Yi has gradually become more familiar with them. Apart from Qiao Na, who is not very willing to move around, the other two get along very well.
They could all tell that Jona was the kind of pampered young lady who was too spoiled. She was picky about eating out, and they heard that she hadn't been able to sleep well these past few days while staying in the dormitory. Her father called her every day, and she complained on the phone that she wasn't used to living there at all.
He also said he would go home this weekend.
Fortunately, their school's military training won't start until next semester, and it's still quite hot now, so there's no need to worry about getting a tan.
Actually, Gu Ai and the others told Ning Yi not to participate in the military training, because given Ning Yi's physical condition, standing for more than half an hour would be too much for her.
However, Ning Yi didn't want to be the special one, so she could only wait and see if her body really couldn't handle it and then she wouldn't participate.
Ning Yi and Li Man signed up for the music club, An Xiaonuo signed up for the calligraphy club, and Qiao Na didn't sign up for any clubs.
In fact, most of the students in this major come from wealthy families. After all, pursuing an arts-related career is inherently expensive, and their instrumental performance major also involves buying instruments, which many of them have been studying since elementary school.
These days they go to and from get out of class together.
That day, Ning Yi and Li Man went to a club meeting together after class.
The large classroom was already filled with people.
Standing on the stage was the president of the music club, who was introducing herself to everyone.
She was a senior two years ahead of Ningyi and her classmates.
After she finished her introduction, she asked the club members below to stand up and introduce themselves one by one.
The senior student is an outgoing and energetic girl who speaks with great enthusiasm.
She stood there and randomly asked people, "Hi, why do you want to join the music club?"
The male student who was asked the question replied, "Although I was forced to choose economics for a living, my heart is still in music."
After saying this, he put on a selfless act, which made everyone around him burst into laughter.
The senior student smiled and continued asking the next student, "So why does this student want to join the music club?"
The female student who was asked the question blushed slightly before replying, "I joined the music club because of Senior Ji Yan. I admire him a lot, so I wanted to come and visit the place he used to be."
"Oh~" Then some meaningful voices were called out.
The senior clapped her hands and laughed, saying, "Haha, that's so true! To be honest, I'm also a fan of Senior Ji Yan."
"Senior Ji Yan is an outstanding graduate of Nanjing University. He is a few years older than you, but he was indeed a member of the music club and served as its president. His first song was created in the music club," the senior continued to explain.
Some of the girls below got excited when they heard this, because many of them had also come for Ji Yan, and they even took the initiative to ask the senior students about the rumors about Ji Yan at school and interesting things about him.
Ning Yi watched the girls discussing Ji Yan so intensely and couldn't help but marvel at how popular Ji Yan was.
Li Man, standing nearby, asked Ning Yi curiously, "What about you? Do you know Ji Yan?"
Ning Yi nodded and replied, "Yes, I know, he's quite popular."
Then, Li Man seemed to be thinking about something and continued to whisper to Ning Yi, "I only met Ji Yan this year. I have an older brother who is also from Nanjing University, five years ahead of us. I heard that he and Ji Yan joined the music club in the same batch."
Li Man continued with a gossipy look, "I heard that back then, the school sometimes held some activities and competitions. Once, Ji Yan formed a team with a girl from the club and a boy. They composed and wrote their own songs, but later, the other boy on their team didn't participate because of personal reasons."
"Then their team was left with only Ji Yan and that girl. I heard from my brother that she was incredibly beautiful, and a lot of boys liked her. In fact, Ji Yan sang in that competition, and that girl accompanied him on the piano."
"Two people like that could easily make a youth romance novel in any school."
Ning Yi was stunned for a moment when she heard this, and then guessed that it must be Qiao Jiawei, because Qiao Jiawei and Ji Yan met in the club.
As Li Man spoke, a hint of envy flashed in her eyes: "Thinking back on it, that girl was so lucky. Ji Yan has become so successful and popular now, and she was able to stand on stage alongside him back then."
Ning Yi sighed silently in her heart. Yes, the female lead is blessed but doesn't know how lucky she is.
After finishing their club activities, they went out for a meal together and then returned to their dorm.
There were very few classes these past few days, and apart from a few other trivial matters, it was quite relaxing, almost like a vacation.
Ning Yi had just finished washing up back in her dorm when Ning Anyuan called.
Ning Yi: "Hey, brother!"
Ning Anyuan: "Xiao Yi, how have you been lately? How's your health? Are you eating and staying in the right place?"
Ning Yi: "Oh, brother, don't worry, I'm doing fine here."
Ning Anyuan: "Okay then. By the way, Xiaoyi, I heard from Dad that you participated in the violin recital held at the Lin City Art and Music Hall, is that right?"
Ning Yi's expression froze for a moment. She had been so busy these past two days that she had forgotten about the concert, and she hadn't practiced the piano much.
Ning Yi replied, "Ah...right, I think it's the day after tomorrow, right?"
Ning Anyuan continued, "Yes, I heard that Ayan is going back to Linshi from Nanzhou tomorrow, so I asked him to come back a day later to pick you up together."
Upon hearing this, Ning Yi's eyes lit up, and her face immediately lit up with a smile that reached her eyebrows.
Ning Yi said with surprise, "Really? Won't that be too much trouble for him?"
Ning Anyuan sensed her mood and chuckled softly on the other end of the phone: "It's nothing serious."
